An oasis of calm amidst a bustling city, The Royal Durban Golf Club is conveniently located in the heart of Greyville, offering members an easy-to-reach destination from anywhere in Durban, making it the ideal place to play a few holes during lunchtimes or to meet with clients while playing a few rounds.
Royal Durban is not only unique in its setting and character, but is one of South Africa's most demanding championship courses. The length of 6115 metres could be considered a short course by modern day standards, however in Durban's humid sub tropical atmosphere it plays more like 6500 metres with little run on its lush fairways.
On Thursday 7 January, the club had a special visitor, South Africa's number one female golfer, Ashleigh Simon. Ashleigh, together with family and friends, played a round in ideal conditions and all were very complimentary about the course. Ashleigh turned professional in 2007 and became the youngest winner ever in the European LPGA tour, and is now also campaigning in the USA on the LPGA tour.
